Malabar Social Service Society (MASSS) stands as the official Social Service Organization of the Archdiocese of Kottayam for the Malabar Region, dedicated to the sustainable development and upliftment of women, children, the impoverished, farmers, tribal communities, and the underprivileged, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. Since its inception in 1992, MASSS has been deeply committed to fostering self-reliant societies at the grassroots level, as enshrined in its registration under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Reg. No. 690/92).

Operational Reach and Impact

Operating across six northern districts of Kerala, known collectively as Malabar, MASSS operates through five regional offices to extend its impactful interventions. Under the patronage of the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Kottayam Archdiocese and the presidency of the Auxiliary Bishop, MASSS is steered by a dedicated Secretary cum Chief Functionary who oversees the day-to-day operations of both central and regional offices.

Diverse Intervention Programs

MASSS’ multifaceted approach encompasses a broad and expansive array of sectors, including skill development for women, empowerment of the disabled, agricultural advancement, environmental conservation, natural resource management, disaster preparedness, legal aid, counseling, education, tribal welfare, livelihood promotion, biotechnology, social welfare initiatives, community development projects, sustainable growth initiatives, and healthcare initiatives.

Recognition and Collaborations

MASSS has garnered recognition for its exemplary execution of development projects, acknowledged by numerous national and international agencies, state, and central governments. Notable collaborators include the UNDP, Consulate General, Government of Japan, High Commission, Government of Australia, ABILIS Foundation, Netharland, Caritas India, SIDBI, NABARD, CHAI, USHA International, and more. Over the years, MASSS successfully implemented various schemes initiated by ministries of the Government of India, such as the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Rural Health Mission, and Central Social Welfare Board.
